We try to get the action shots that add color to the stories we all love to tell.
"When I was a kid, I . . ."  (And you'll have the photos to prove it!)

Recently, we were asked by the Queen Creek Junior Rodeo Association (and others) to help out at the arena.  QCJRA has kids competing from ages 3 to 18.  It's amazing to see a 4 foot nothing kid on an 16 hand high horse...and still under control.  The grins, the giggles, the fun of competition is evident in their faces.

Junior Rodeo Associations are all about teaching the next generation of cowboys and cowgirls.  The QCJRA is an excellent example of the rodeo families working together to teach their kids in a friendly competive environment.  As you would expect, it would be impossible for anyone to step right into a professional association and be competitive.  The basics simply have to be practiced - just like any other sport.

Junior Rodeos have some teaching events that are not normally featured in a traditional rodeo.  However, every event has elements of a traditional rodeo in a setting that is geared to the skill level and age of the contestant.

One of my favorite non-traditional event is the PeeWee Goat Tail Pull.  In this event, the kid will race up on their horse to a tethered goat, jump down, run over to the goat and pull a brightly colored ribbon from the tail, and then finally race on foot across the finish line.

This timed event teaches the kids to move from one task to another.  Smooth transitions from task to task is required for the lowest times.  Sequential tasking is also critical for the best times in team roping, bull dogging, calf roping and other such events.

The focus of these competitors is visible on their faces.  Trystan J. (left) uses the occasional tongue manuever to help guide his horse.  It works for him...he's highly ranked in his age group.

These little breetches work hard like any other competitor.  To win All 'Round at this age, they compete in barrel racing, pole bending, dummy roping, goat tail pull, and flag racing, and more.

These are a couple examples of the kids in action.  For more shots, follow this link to see MORE GALLERIES.  Once you've found your shots, click on it and you'll open up all that I have posted for that rodeo.  Keep looking for more...my website hosting service changes all the time.  If you don't see your child featured, PLEASE (!) send me an email and we'll see if we have something.  (It's not uncommon to shoot over 5000 photos in one weekend, so there is no way that all shots will be posted).

As a side note...I really want to keep my prices low.  A lot of the parents have several kids in many events.  Since what we do is for the kids, it's better that the Moms and Dads have more photos for "X" dollars and the little breetches get to see themselves in more action shots than if the prices were higher.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
